Our impact

As the first NIHR Inequalities Challenge, the Maternity Disparities Consortium was established in November 2024 bringing together nine regional collaborations comprised of universities, NHS trusts, councils, charities, and industry partners. Co-led by the University of Birmingham and Newcastle University, improving outcomes for women and babies before, during, and after pregnancy.

We are the first of a series of NIHR Inequality challenge focused fundings calls with future topics being announced in due course.
